This time, we're focusing in on Zadara Storage, a pioneer provider of enterprise storage as a service (STaaS), delivering high-performance, highly available and predictable (QoS) file and block storage, in a pay-as-you-go model for on-premise deployment and via global service providers. And I can't wait to visit with them on the show floor.
VMblog: Your company is sponsoring the upcoming VMworld 2014 event. Where can people find you?
Zadara Storage: We have a kiosk in the Innovator's Pavilion. This will be our last year in the Innovator's Pavilion, because next year we will be too old to participate. We grow up so fast....
VMblog: What is the key takeaway message that attendees can bring back with them to explain your technology to their boss?
Zadara Storage: For the first time, customers can have on-premises storage with all the capabilities they like yet without the pain and suffering typically associated with enterprise storage. Imagine not having to plan years in advance, go through painful migrations every few years, or lose sleep over deploying new applications and disrupting existing ones. This is why Zadara is Storage Done Right (finally).
VMblog: And why should attendees put you on their MUST SEE list this year?
Zadara Storage: Because we're the only ones not trying to cram storage down customers' throats. We don't even sell our storage. We provide it fully as a service, with consumption-based OpEx pricing, remote management, and the ability to start small and grow only as needed. Over is the era of agonizing over storage.
VMblog: What do you like most about sponsoring VMworld?
Zadara Storage: It's a conference for people who want flexible infrastructure that does what they need, when they need it. And because we do for storage what VMware did for servers, we must be at VMworld so that customers know that help has arrived.
VMblog: Can you give VMblog readers a sneak peek as to what you will be showing off at your booth this year?
Zadara Storage: Create a custom configured SAN/NAS storage array in 90 seconds. Then change it on the fly. Grow it, shrink it, make it go faster, make it go slower. It's not magic. It's storage done right.
VMblog: And can you explain to readers why your product or service is considered unique?
Zadara Storage: No one else offers enterprise storage as an on-premises managed service, with elasticity, multi-tenancy, and no long-term commitment.
VMblog: Most VMworld attendees enjoy a good giveaway or trade show tchotchke. What can we expect to find at your booth?
Zadara Storage: We focus on great products, not glitz and glamour. As a token of appreciation for visitors' time, we have USB sticks which double as bottle openers. Like Zadara, it's a storage product, but with perspective.
VMblog: What are you guys looking forward to most at VMworld this year?
Zadara Storage: Discussing our recently announced OPaaS (on-premise as a service) offering, and our VMworld announcement of iSER support.
VMblog: What keeps you coming back to this event?
Zadara Storage: This is our 2nd year in a row sponsoring. It's the attendees who keeps us coming back. We meet users of IT who are in search of solutions for real problems. There is nothing we love more than helping them.
VMblog: Finally, based on past experiences, what are you looking forward to most at this year's event?
Zadara Storage: Meeting new people! VMworld is about making connections for the long term.
