Pivot3 Helps Customers Minimize Downtime with New VMware Site Recovery Manager

Written by

Pivot3, a leading provider of intelligent infrastructure solutions, today announced interoperability of its intelligent hyperconverged infrastructure software platform with the latest version of VMware Site Recovery Manager. This new offering continues the relationship between Pivot3 - a VMware Advanced Technology Alliance Partner - and VMware and gives mutual customers the ability to simplify business continuity delivery using the new VMware Site Recovery Manager 8.2.

"We are pleased to be one of the first technology partners for VMware Site Recovery Manager 8.2 at release," said Mike Koponen, senior director of product marketing and technical alliances, Pivot3. "Our customers expect us to make their most mission-critical IT deployments more resilient, secure and manageable; we are now extending Pivot3's policy-based management approach to organizations implementing DR strategies with containerized VMware Site Recovery Manager."

IT teams cannot afford downtime in the event of a catastrophic system failure. Through integration with and use of VMware Site Recovery Manager, Pivot3 can automate and orchestrate non-disruptive testing and execution of recovery plans to minimize downtime in case of disasters. Pivot3 storage replication is now fully integrated with VMware Photon OS, a new operating system purpose-built for VMware infrastructures. VMware Site Recovery Manager 8.2 is now deployed as a Photon OS-based virtual appliance and can be installed directly from vCenter Server. The new Photon OS-based deployment model simplifies setup of VMware Site Recovery Manager components and disaster recovery (DR) plans and reduces layers of complexity associated with Windows Server virtual machines.

Pivot3's containerized Storage Replication Adapter brings policy-based data protection and replication technology to VMware Site Recovery Manager 8.2. This extends the automation and orchestration capabilities of Pivot3's Intelligence Engine to automate customers' DR operations, simplifying management and protecting mission-critical deployments.

"VMware Site Recovery Manager 8.2 simplifies data recovery management and can increase security with a Photon OS-based virtual appliance," said Ori Broit, senior product marketing manager, VMware. "With this offering, Pivot3 is one of the first technology alliance partners interoperating with this new VMware Site Recovery Manager deployment model."

Available now, the new version of Pivot3's Storage Replication Adapter for VMware Site Recovery Manager in conjunction with Pivot3's policy-based Intelligence Engine simplifies infrastructure management and DR operations, making DR more accessible to customers.
