Asigra Exhibits at Parallels Summit 2013 to Demonstrate Cloud-Based Backup & Recovery for Parallels APS Environments

Written by

Asigra Inc., a leading Cloud Backup, recovery and restore (BURR) software provider since 1986 today announced it will demonstrate cloud-based backup and recovery at the 2013 Parallels Summit in booth #519. This year's show takes place February 4-6 and is being held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. During the exhibition, Asigra will showcase groundbreaking backup and recovery capabilities for cloud service providers that leverage Parallels Application Packaging Standard (APS). Innovations to be shown include low-touch agentless deployment and operation, simple management of end-to-end physical/virtual/cloud/endpoint data backup, virtual machine disaster recovery and NIST FIPS 140-2 certified security for data in flight and at rest.

The Application Packaging Standard makes it easy to package and integrate cloud backup seamlessly into cloud delivery systems, such as Parallels Automation. With its built-in APS support, Parallels Automation helps service providers targeting SMB markets to offer solutions based on Asigra's APS-certified cloud backup application. This alleviates the need to spend time and money developing special control panels or writing custom code to integrate cloud backup into cloud service provider infrastructure.

The combination of Parallels Automation and Asigra's unique cloud backup and recovery solution offers service providers a turnkey portfolio of storage services. Asigra's cloud backup software provides joint partners with a single, secure, end-to-end solution to protect data across physical, virtualized, endpoint and cloud operating environments. The hardware and software agnostic solution can be installed without requiring software agents on backup targets and can be configured as a public, private or hybrid cloud by service providers. Asigra's backup target coverage includes cloud applications, storage devices, servers, desktops and the broadest range of mobile endpoint devices including laptops, tablets and smartphones. The solution is built for organizations challenged with compliance concerns where data security is assured with NIST FIPS 140-2 certification.

According to analysts, the cloud-addressable portion of SMB IT spending will expand from $15 billion in 2011 to $160 billion by 2020 as spending shifts from hardware/software sales and on-premise integration and support to cloud-based service delivery and consumption models. The various factors driving service providers and SMB end users to the cloud are cost, scalability, ease of use and access to additional services and revenue streams. This change in the IT landscape is increasing the market opportunity for Asigra service provider partners whose cloud infrastructure is built on Parallels APS.

The Parallels Summit is designed for business leaders, IT services professionals and developers at service providers who want to discover and implement leading-edge cloud computing solutions. This year's event will provide these professionals with educational tracks for technical and operational concerns, business development sessions, inspirational keynotes and an exhibition of third-party cloud service solutions. The 2013 show provides a one-stop gathering of the brightest and most innovative minds in the industry and the opportunity to make important connections, network with peers, discover the latest solutions and gain insight from industry experts as a means to move businesses forward.

"Cloud backup is an important revenue producing application for any service provider leveraging Parallels to enable cloud services," said Pavan Vyas, Product Marketing Manager, Asigra. "Joint users of Parallels and Asigra have been impressed with the ability to assure reliable, secure, platform/device-agnostic backup to meet the growing list of requirements by business customers. Asigra service providers report excellent quality of service to their customers, the ability to easily meet the most demanding service level agreements (SLAs) and an expanding addressable market for their services."

He was able to become an industry expert in virtualization by becoming a pioneer in that field - one of the few people in the industry allowed to work with Alpha stage server virtualization software from industry leaders: VMware (ESX Server), Connectix and Microsoft (Virtual Server).

Through the years, he has invented, marketed and helped launch a number of successful virtualization software companies and products. David holds a BS degree in Finance, an Information Technology Certification, and a number of vendor certifications from Microsoft, CompTia and others. He's also co-authored two published books: "VMware ESX Essentials in the Virtual Data Center" and "Advanced Server Virtualization: VMware and Microsoft Platforms in the Virtual Data Center" and acted as technical editor for two popular Virtualization "For Dummies" books. With his remaining spare time, David founded and operates one of the oldest independent virtualization news blogs, VMblog.com. And co-founded CloudCow.com, a publication dedicated to Cloud Computing. Starting in 2009 and continuing all the way to 2016, David has been honored with the vExpert distinction by VMware for his virtualization evangelism.
