This week, Nashville played host to the annual DISRUPT23 conference, a gathering of IT professionals, industry experts, and vendors, all eager to learn more about the latest developments in endpoint management and security. As usual, the event did not disappoint - offering a number of exciting announcements and updates that promise to change the way we think about endpoint management.
DISRUPT is back. Bigger, better and braver than ever before. And this year, they are saying YES. YES to the single most important EUC event of the year - bringing together the leading disruptors of the EUC universe. The event is in Nashville, TN, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center Nashville.
In this VMblog exclusive video interview, we sit down with Matthias Haas, the CTO of IGEL Technology, to discuss a number of important industry topics, what IGEL has been up to, and we take a deeper look into the DISRUPT23 event. A few months ago, IGEL announced it was exiting the hardware business to focus on software. As part of that decision, IGEL has enhanced their partnerships with the leading hardware vendors, HP, LG, and Lenovo, who will take on the hardware role.
IGEL will instead focus on the software, i.e. IGEL OS and the new IGEL COSMOS. COSMOS enables the flexibility needed in the EUC industry. It's a cloud-based management platform for IGEL OS-powered endpoints, such as thin clients and convertibles. It enables IT administrators to easily manage and secure their endpoints from a central location, providing remote support and troubleshooting, device monitoring, and the ability to deploy software and updates across a large number of endpoints. Additionally, IGEL Cosmos provides analytics and reporting capabilities, which can help organizations optimize their endpoint infrastructure and improve user productivity.
Continuing along the theme of flexibility, Matthias talks about the onboarding process when an end user unboxes the device, turns it on, and answers four simple questions and the device gets fully configured and drops to the desktop or browser to access your modern applications.
Over the course of the show, Matthias talked with a lot of partners and customers at the DISRUPT event and their feedback was clear - everyone is excited to meet again in person, share knowledge, and do so at an industry event like this.
Finally, Matthias takes on the question of "what is the future of VDI and DaaS?" Hear his take on this highly debated topic.

In this VMblog exclusive video interview, we sit down with Jason Mafera, Field CTO, North America at IGEL, to discuss a number of important topics that were being raised throughout the two day event.
Jason talks about securing the edge, the interface between the users and their workloads and applications as things move to the cloud. Organizations are also undertaking a huge transition, as they look to move Windows to the cloud where they can gain better security, better manageability, and potentially make things more cost effective. And, provide a better way to recover in the event that something goes wrong. Jason also digs into some of the trends taking shape in the EUC space. And one of the hot topics discussed during the DISRUPT keynote - a focus on sustainability and the idea of reduce, recycle, and reuse, and how IGEL is helping to make that happen.
One of the big announcements at DISRUPT was centered around IGEL COSMOS, a unified, agile platform to securely manage and automate the delivery of digital workspaces, from any cloud. Offering a modular architecture, granular endpoint control and end-user freedom, COSMOS is designed to enable organizations to garner the full power of current-day and future clouds with extensive control, while powering great user experiences for today's hybrid work.
