Think like a CIO: Cyber resiliency starts and ends with your data
Tuesday, Nov. 28 / 5:30-6:30 pm / Wynn, Lafleur 2
What do semiconductor manufacturing, biopharma research, and edge computing have in common? They all require a strong security posture against ransomware. Unwilling to be vulnerable, JSR Corporation-the $4 billion parent company of JSR Micro, Crown Bioscience, KBI Biopharma, and other subsidiaries-turned to Cohesity and AWS to modernize how it protects its IT estate from unauthorized users and to meet compliance requirements. In this session, hear how JSR uses SaaS to globally unify the protection of its on-premises data and cloud applications, improve cyber resiliency with as-a-service data vaulting, and enable hybrid cloud mobility to optimize costs and help ensure business continuity.

AWS: re:Invent Executive Forum with Mohit Aron
Monday, Nov. 27 / 4:30 pm / Bellagio Hotel and Casino, Tower Ballroom
Hear from Cohesity Founder and Chief Strategy and Technology Officer Mohit Aron.
Attendees for this session will gain insights into the software trends we think will most impact software company products and technology officers in the next 18-36 months. Fast delivery and efficient operation of differentiated software products and services are the lifeblood of a successful software company. But delivering both is easier said than done: The relentless evolution of cloud, web, and disruptive technologies such as generative AI means that today's compelling features can quickly become tomorrow's table-stakes managed service or open source framework. Software company CPOs and CTOs can't afford to build everything from scratch but must balance the value of 3rd party dependencies against the risk they bring. Join us to learn where your peers are moving and how to balance strategic investments across thousands of 3rd party products, cloud services, and open-source frameworks in sustainable ways.

Mini-theater sessions with Cohesity partners
Mon-Thu, Nov. 27-30 / All day / Cohesity booth, expo floor
Hear from Cohesity technology partners and system integrators, including AWS, BigID, DataMasque, Insight Enterprises, Normalyze, OwnData, Presidio, CDW, Pure Storage, and Tenable about our joint solutions across data security, data classification, and more, in 15-minute informative sessions at the Cohesity booth.

VMblog:  What kind of message will an attendee hear from you this year?  What will they take back to help sell their management team and decision makers?

Nair:  A continuing challenge for all organizations across the globe is ransomware. As an AWS ISV partner, Cohesity helps organizations protect, detect, and recover AWS and hybrid data from ransomware attacks.

Cohesity provides multiple layers of protection, detection, and recovery. We provide immutability so that data is tamper-proof, we leverage zero trust security to tightly control access and privileges, we use ML-driven analytics and monitoring monitor all critical production data for ransomware activity, and we provide reliable recovery at scale measured in hours vs. days.

Additionally, our solution leverages an organization's current investments in security operations and controls with integrations to SIEM, SOAR, KMS, MFA, and other solutions.

Cohesity is leveraged by over 4,000 organizations around the world in various industries to protect their organizations from ransomware attacks, insider threats, and natural disasters.

VMblog:  While thinking about your company's solutions, can you give readers a few examples of how your offerings are unique?  What are your differentiators?  What sets you apart from the competition?

Nair:  Our solutions uniquely bring cyber-resilient data security and management for hybrid and multi-cloud environments. At a high level, Cohesity solutions are transformational but radically simple. When I think of what sets us apart, there are a few areas that come to mind:

  • Simplicity at scale: With Cohesity, you can manage everything in one place. A single UI provides global visibility and control across multicloud and hybrid cloud environments, powering multiple use cases. We also have flexible deployment models: self-managed, partner-managed, or SaaS.
  • Zero trust security: With Cohesity, enterprises can detect, protect, and rapidly recover from cyber attacks. Our solutions offer built-in AI-powered threat detection, immutability, and instant mass restore to thwart ransomware and other cyber attacks. Our disaster recovery and automated failover capabilities minimize downtime. And we integrate with the leading security ecosystem partners to automate and extend protection.
  • Powered by AI: Our customers can improve decisions and act faster with built-in smart capabilities. Our solutions offload often manual efforts, providing proactive alerts and health checks. Our AI-based threat detection and scanning counters cybercrime. And our AI-powered recommendations reduce costs and improve performance.

VMblog:  AWS re:Invent is typically a great venue for a company to launch a new product or an update to an existing product.  Will your company be announcing anything new?  If so, without asking you to give away too much, can you give us a sneak preview?

Nair:  At re:Invent, Cohesity is taking signups for a new early access program to Cohesity Turing, our comprehensive, patent-pending collection of AI capabilities and technologies that are integrated into our cloud data platform. We will be integrating Cohesity Turing with Amazon Bedrock, a new service that makes foundation models accessible via an API to build and scale generative AI applications. Customers will be able to use these new AI capabilities to drive more efficient operations, garner greater insight into security risks, and derive more value from their data. We invite you to sign up today for the Cohesity Turing Early Access Program here.

Cohesity will also showcase new and planned capabilities for protecting critical AWS workloads with Cohesity DataProtect delivered as a service, including enhanced support for Amazon S3 and Amazon RDS. With enhanced support for the backup of AWS RDS, customers will be able to more easily fulfill database portability, database migration, and cloud DR for business continuity requirements. With enhanced support for AWS S3, the number of objects per S3 bucket that can be backed up will substantially increase in scale to 30 million objects. These new capabilities complement Cohesity's existing data protection solution for Amazon EC2. With a single management plane for on-premises, SaaS, and cloud-native workloads, Cohesity customers can streamline data security and management. The end result is better protection from cyber threats and unplanned outages.

In addition, Cohesity has joined forces with AWS and VMware to bolster data resilience for VMware Cloud on AWS with Cohesity's DataProtect delivered as a service. This solution's flexible pricing, industry-leading storage efficiency, and scalability provide VMware Cloud on AWS workloads with comprehensive protection and faster recovery at lower costs. With integration across cloud and on-prem environments, this solution delivers a proven, integrated data protection solution for VMware Cloud on AWS.

VMblog:  Are you giving away any prizes at your booth or participating in any prize giveaways?

Nair:  If you stop at our booth, you can try your luck on our slot machine to win some cool swag or a Starbucks gift card and get up to speed on the latest Cohesity innovations.

VMblog:  Is your company sponsoring any type of party or get together during the event that you'd like to notify attendees about?

Nair:  On Tuesday, November 28th from 6-8pm we are holding a customer appreciation event at Scarpetta, in the Cosmopolitan. Join Cohesity, HPE, and Own Company for an evening of Italian fare, cocktails, conversation, and breathtaking views at our networking event at Scarpetta.
