VMworld 2016 Q&A: Lakeside Software Will Showcase SysTrack and End User Analytics at Booth 1155

What Does Lakeside Software Have Planned for VMworld 2016?

As part of VMblog's live VMworld 2016 coverage coming up later this month, we're in the process of working up our schedules to make sure we can see and learn as much as possible when the show kicks off.  And we're extremely excited to visit the Solutions Expo this year.  But with so many vendors exhibiting, how do you know which booths to visit and who to get on your schedule?

One of my "must see" companies this year is Lakeside Software.  I had a chance to catch up with their team at Citrix Synergy, and they were showcasing some amazing stuff around their flagship product, SysTrack.  I can't wait to see what they are showing off at VMworld.  More about the company:

Lakeside Software transforms the way that enterprises deploy, manage, secure, improve, and report on end user experience by coupling the world's most lightweight agent with a robust data analysis engine to instantly grant complete visibility and control to administrators without impacting end user experience.  Lakeside empowers EUC teams with comprehensive end user analytics and endpoint telemetry, enabling them to optimize user experience, mitigate risk, minimize cost, automate operational tasks, and make better decisions.

Read our exclusive pre-show interview with Lakeside to learn what they have planned for the upcoming VMworld 2016 event.

VMblog:  As a VMworld 2016 sponsor, how can people find you this year?

Lakeside:  Lakeside is very easy to find this year - our booth is right next to the VMware booth - better together! Our booth number is 1155, it's a 20x20. We are a Silver Sponsor, and we are sending 12 people.

VMblog:  Very nice, a 20x20 booth!  Is there anything interesting or unique about this year's booth setup?

Lakeside:  We've got some surprises up our sleeve this year, since we'll be celebrating our 20th year in business. Expect something big.

VMblog:  If an attendee likes what they see and hear at your booth... what message about your product can you send them back with to sell their boss on your technology?

Lakeside:  SysTrack is exactly what we need to better understand, manage, and support the needs of our end users.

VMblog:  Why should a VMworld attendee add you to their MUST SEE list?

Lakeside:  You've been hearing a lot about people-centric IT, bi-modal IT, and workplace analytics from the analyst community, peers in the industry, and service providers. If you want to understand how to put analytics to use in helping you evolve your IT organization, we'd love to give you a test drive of SysTrack. The power it puts at your fingertips is unmatched. Come see why SysTrack helps some of the world's largest companies manage and support millions of physical and virtual desktops.

VMblog:  Why is this a must sponsor event for your company?

Lakeside:  Ever since VMware ventured into the End User Computing space, we've had a close and mutually beneficial relationship with VMware. Our assessment and analytics capabilities are a natural fit for the increasingly complex world of End User Computing. Most recently, we've jointly launched assessment.vmware.com to help people get a better handle on properly standing up and selecting the best components to ensure end user computing project success.

VMblog:  Can you give VMblog readers a sneak peek as to what you will be showing off at your booth this year?

Lakeside:  We can't divulge the "big" reveal because that would spoil the surprise. What we can say is that we'll be formally announcing that the SysTrack platform is now truly ubiquitous across all desktop endpoints: Windows, Mac, and Linux!

VMblog:  Can you give readers a few reasons why your product or service is considered unique?

Lakeside:  IT insight into employee usage patterns is more critical than ever as device, applications and data delivery options increase in complexity. SysTrack Workplace Analytics is essential to answer such questions as:

  • When do we need to upgrade a user's platform?
  • Can the user be migrated to a new operating system?
  • When can we retire an application?
  • What impact will a system upgrade or replacement have?
  • Are employee's applications performing well?
  • And ultimately, do we have objective measures on the quality of IT services we are delivering?

Our EUC data gathering and assessment platform can help organizations better understand users' needs and habits, and more importantly, make sourcing and deployment decisions based on real data.

VMblog:  How does your company and product fit within the VMware ecosystem?

Lakeside:  SysTrack fits into every phase of VMware's EUC deployment, from initial assessment and procurement rationalization, to ongoing management and continuous insights and analytics, to help desk optimization and forensics.

VMblog:  Attendees always enjoy a good trade show tchotchke.  Are you guys giving away anything special or interesting this year?

Lakeside:  Yes. In fact, it's the only hint we can give you about our big announcement. We'll be giving away Amazon Echo's. You can ask them to do anything you want.

VMblog:  Does your company have any speaking sessions during the show?  If so, can you give us the who, what, when and where?

Lakeside:  Yes, we'll be doing a session on End User Analytics, and why it's your most valuable IT investment. Join us on the Expo Hall floor Theater B on Tuesday, August 30 at 11:20 AM

VMblog:  What are you guys looking forward to most at VMworld this year?

Lakeside:  Meeting with our current and future customers. VMworld has always been an amazing event for us.

VMblog:  What do you think we need to do collectively as an ecosystem to strengthen the industry?

Lakeside:  Focus on helping customers and avoid punditry.

VMblog:  What do you hope to come away with from exhibiting at VMworld?  What does event success look like to you?

Lakeside:  We hope people walk away from the show with a solid understand of workplace analytics and how SysTrack can help them massively simplify IT and better manage and support end users.

VMblog:  Finally, do you have any tips for first-time attendees of VMworld that you'd like to share?

Lakeside:  Hydrate! And bring comfortable shoes. We average over 20,000 steps a day!

Don't know if you're like me or not, but curiosity always gets the better of me.  I'm anxious to see what Lakeside Software has planned at booth 1155.  And I'd love to walk away with one of those Amazon Echo devices!
