Q&A: @Tegile Brings Hybrid, All-Flash #Storage Solutions to #VMworld 2014 - Booth 1705

Written by

As part of VMblog's live VMworld 2014 coverage coming up this month, we're getting our schedule ready to learn as much as we can, as quickly as we can.  And I know attendees are doing the same.  The event is always jam packed with information coming in from every which way, so it is important to come up with a good game plan to try and follow as best you can throughout the event.  Part of our game plan is to get the lay of the land and figure out who will be on the exhibitor show floor.  Much like previous years, the sponsor list for VMworld 2014 is long and worthy, making it even more important to know ahead of time the who, where and what.

This time, we're focusing in on Tegile Systems, a company pioneering a new generation of affordable feature-rich storage arrays that are dramatically faster, and can store more data than standard arrays.  These guys offer a unique metadata handling technology called IntelliFlash, allowing Tegile arrays to deliver caching and on the fly de-duplication and compression for primary storage.  These guys have some really great technology, and I just recently visited with them while at Citrix Synergy.  So I can't wait to see what they are showing off at VMworld.

VMblog:  As an upcoming sponsor of VMworld 2014, how can people find you on the show floor?  Where are you located and what are you showing?

Tegile:  Tegile Systems will be in a 30'X30' booth 1705 with a Platinum Sponsorship this year.  In addition to showcasing our intelligent flash arrays in virtual server, VDI and database environments, visitors can try their luck at winning a brand new Tesla Model S.  Tegile gives a special welcome to VMware vExperts.

VMblog:  If an attendee likes what they see and hear at your booth... what message about your product can you send them back with to sell their boss on your technology?

Tegile:  Tegile Systems has a comprehensive line of hybrid and all-flash arrays that are some of the fastest and most efficient storage systems in the market today.  With tight VMware integration, Tegile's arrays are an excellent fit for IT leaders looking for best-in-class infrastructure.

VMblog:  Why should an attendee put you on their MUST SEE list?

Tegile:  If attendees want to see the most comprehensive family of award-winning hybrid and all-flash storage for virtualized environments, Tegile Systems is a definite must see vendor.

VMblog:  And can you give readers a few reasons why your product is considered unique?

Tegile:  Tegile's intelligent flash arrays are unique for many reasons:

  • All of our storage systems are accessible via iSCSI, FC, NFS and SMB3
  • All of our storage systems feature in-line deduplication and compression
  • All of our hybrid and all-flash storage systems run on the exact same microcode
  • All of our storage systems have a comprehensive suite of data management and protection tools

VMblog:  What do you like most about sponsoring VMworld?

Tegile:  Virtualization (be it server or desktop) has broken the model for traditional storage architectures.  We like sponsoring VMworld, because there are so many IT managers attending that have real challenges that we are tailor made to help solve.  We have the most in-depth discussions with attendees at VMworld relative to other shows.

VMblog:  Can you give VMblog readers a sneak peek as to what you will be showing off at your booth this year?

Tegile:  Atendees will see:

  • The fastest all-flash array on the entire show floor
  • The most cost effective all-flash and hybrid arrays on the entire floor
  • The only all-flash arrays that support iSCSI, FC, NFS and SMB3
  • Last but not least, a chance win a shiny 2014 Tesla Model S !!

VMblog:  Most VMworld attendees enjoy a good booth giveaway.  Are you guys doing anything special?

Tegile:  Tegile is building a reputation of having really cool shirts any attendee can pick up.  Did you get a "TOAST" shirt last year?

It will be hard to miss our gunmetal grey Tesla Model S right at the front row by the show floor entrance doors.  Come by for a chance to win it!

VMblog:  Does your company have any speaking sessions during the show?  If so, can you give us the who, what, when and where?

Tegile:  Tegile has three speaking sessions at VMworld:

  • 2754 - New Kids on the Storage Block, File and Share: Lessons in Storage and Virtualization
  • 2453 - Modernize Your Data Storage for VMware Environments
  • 2461 - Awesome VDI, Miniscule Storage: Construction Firm Tells How

VMblog:  Everyone loves a good party.  Are you guys throwing one this year?  And if so, can you share the details?

Tegile:  Yes!  Party with us @ ROE.  Tegile will be hosting an invite-only party at ROE (just blocks from the Moscone) on Monday, August 25th @ 6PM.  If you are interested in attending, please visit http://www.tegile.com/vmworld2014

VMblog:  What are you guys looking forward to most at VMworld this year?

Tegile:  Other than that party and the Tesla contest?  We are definitely eager to talk to IT leaders who are aggressively consolidating servers, deploying VDI and optimizing their databases.  We have an excellent set of storage systems that can help them out.  We love seeing smart IT managers' eyes light up when they understand what we do and how we do it.

VMblog:  I know this isn't your first VMworld sponsorship, so how many times have you sponsored before?  And what keeps you coming back for more?

Tegile:  This is our third time at VMworld.  We keep coming back because the attendees love our products and the show is a great place to spread the word about how we are helping our customers accelerate their businesses in the most cost effective means possible.

VMblog:  And do you remember your first VMworld?  Any memories stand out?

Tegile:  I don't remember our party (kidding), but I remember personally rolling our 1200 pound rack into the booth and praying it fit properly and I wouldn't tip it over.  That thing was a monster.  We've got a similar rack this year, but we have a lot more people to help out now.

VMblog:  Based on past experiences, what are you looking forward to most at this year's event?

Tegile:  Did I mention our party?  All joking aside, it is the rich, intelligent conversations we love the best about VMworld.  We learn a lot about what customers are working on and we help them learn what they can do with our systems.  Oh, and of course, I really hope to see someone win that Tesla!
