Q&A: @XIOstorage Brings #Storage Technology to #VMworld 2014 to Solve Software-Defined Data Center and #VDI Challenges - Booth 705

Written by

As part of VMblog's live VMworld 2014 coverage coming up next month, we're getting our schedule ready to learn as much as we can, as quickly as we can.  And I know attendees are doing the same.  The event is always jam packed with information coming in from every which way, so it is important to come up with a good game plan to try and follow as best you can throughout the event.  Part of our game plan is to get the lay of the land and figure out who will be on the exhibitor show floor.  Much like previous years, the sponsor list for VMworld 2014 is long and worthy, making it even more important to know ahead of time the who, where and what.

This time, we're focusing in on X-IO Technologies, an award-winning and recognized innovator in the storage industry.  They've been around for a very long time, and the company is now solving problems in the software-defined data center and desktop virtualization worlds.  Looking for storage solutions?  Again, make sure to get this company on your schedule.  And they have a lot of fun things happening at their booth as well.

VMblog:  You guys are going to be exhibiting at VMworld 2014 next month.  How can folks find you?

X-IO:  We're a Silver sponsor this year, with a 20x20 booth, located in booth #705.

VMblog:  And can you share anything interesting or unique about this year's booth setup?

X-IO:   X-IO has a medical theme this year. Think doctors coats... Think syringes... Think stethoscopes ... This is in keeping with our new VDI Emergency Response program. We'll have big TVs, great tchotchkes and even a big 3D illuminated "X".

VMblog:  If an attendee likes what they see and hear at your booth... what message about your product can you send them back with to sell their boss on your technology?

X-IO:  X-IO provides entirely dependable technology that delivers consistent performance which is unique to the storage industry. Our storage technology offers the ideal hardware foundations for today's software defined data center.

VMblog:  With so many exhibitors at the show, why should an attendee put you on their MUST SEE list?

X-IO:  Aside from X-IO's unique technology, we will offer a lighthearted and fun environment to discuss a serious business challenge facing businesses globally. X-IO's VDI Emergency Response program is directly aimed at an all too common problem in the market, so we want people to know where we fit in. In addition, we will also be running a competition to win a 60" TV.

VMblog:  Can you give VMblog readers a sneak peek as to what you will be showing off at your booth this year?

X-IO:  To name a few:

  • Proven VDI architectures.
  • Real world storage IOTA.
  • Unique Active-Active replication technologies.
  • Simple management integration tool to enable vAdmins to manage storage without specialist skills.

VMblog:  And why do you consider your product to be unique?

X-IO:  X-IO Technologies, with its Intelligent Storage Element (ISE) architecture, has solved some of the fundamental challenges of enterprise storage for virtualized environments. ISE addresses the demand of customers for consistent performance, simplified, hypervisor integrated management and true zero-touch reliability in VDI, OLTP and BI-DW environments.

Based in Colorado, the organization has offices throughout North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa and has a proven installation of more than 7,000 units across 1,200+ customers worldwide.

VMblog:  Most VMworld attendees enjoy a good trade show tchotchke.  What can they expect to find at your booth?

X-IO:  Attendees can expect to find jello shots in syringes, t-shirts, pens and of course a TV up for grabs.

VMblog:  What do you like most about sponsoring VMworld?  And why is this a must sponsor event for your company?

X-IO:  Virtualisation, particularly VDI and SDS, is at the heart of X-IO's business. VMWorld provides the ideal platform for us to showcase our compatibility within virtual environments to the attendees.  With so many high level attendees sponsoring the event this year, joining them was a no-brainer. Also, VMWare is a strategic partner for X-IO, so we are excited to join them at such a popular event.

VMblog:  Does your company have any speaking sessions during the show?  If so, can you give us the who, what, when and where?

X-IO:  Yes, we will be joining one of our technology partners Lakeside Software who will be presenting at the event.  In addition, one of our customers - University of Arkansas Medical Centre - will also be presenting so we're looking forward to joining them in their session.

VMblog:  What are you guys looking forward to most at VMworld this year?

X-IO:  Expanding our VDI Emergency Response eco-system. We will be on the look out for channel and vendor partners to join us in fighting the issue known as VDI Hypo-performance syndrome, the most harmful form of VDI implementation condition.

VMblog:  This isn't your first time sponsoring VMworld.

X-IO:  No - we have been at VMWorld a number of times. We love the attendees and the exposure.

VMblog:  So do you remember your first VMworld?  If so, what can you share about it?

X-IO:  Of course. What we remember is how engaged everybody at these events seemed to be. It was as if everybody was drinking Red Bull all the time. As a participant there was a huge amount of knowledge and forward thinking... as a vendor our booth was busy from the start of the opening reception until hours after the show floor was closed... non-stop... amazing.

VMblog:  Based on past experiences, what are you looking forward to most at this year's event?

X-IO:  Even more people to get to know the X-IO message. Our VDI Emergency Response program is offering something new and different to the market. We are looking forward to finding out what people think about it and how it could benefit them.  As above, we are also hoping to expand our network of channel and vendor partners.
