VMblog NerdioCon 2025 Interview: Premier One CTO Chris Hamm on Specialized MSP Services and Azure Optimization with Nerdio

Written by

In this exclusive VMblog interview from NerdioCon 2025 in Palm Springs, California, we speak with Chris Hamm, CTO of Premier One, a specialized IT services provider focused on the title insurance industry. With approximately 50 employees spread throughout the United States, Premier One distinguishes itself in the MSP space through its deep industry specialization.

Hamm discusses Premier One's journey with Azure Virtual Desktop deployments and their renewed partnership with Nerdio. After initially exploring Nerdio around five years ago and deciding to handle Azure management in-house, Premier One revisited the partnership last fall to address two key challenges: empowering more team members to manage Azure Virtual Desktop environments and optimizing Azure costs beyond what they could achieve natively.

Key highlights from the interview include:

  • How Premier One's specialization in title insurance creates a unique position in the MSP marketplace
  • Their experience implementing and managing Azure Virtual Desktop environments
  • The decision to partner with Nerdio to improve team capabilities and cost optimization
  • Specific cost-saving benefits realized through Nerdio's disk type management features

Hamm's appreciation for NerdioCon's diverse attendees, including MSPs, enterprise representatives, and international participants Premier One has seen substantial cost savings through Nerdio's optimization features, particularly the ability to automatically change disk types when VMs are shut down and automatically provision and scale storage without manual intervention.
