Written by

vmworld 2107 QAAs part of VMblog's live VMworld 2017 coverage coming up next month, we're in the process of working up our schedules to make sure we can see and learn as much as possible when the show kicks off.  VMworld is the leading virtualization event, and there is no shortage of great information coming out of the keynotes, the breakout sessions, the networking and more.  But every year, one of the key places to learn a lot in a short amount of time is the Solutions Expo where valuable vendors from the VMware ecosystem and beyond setup shop to display their wares.

But with so many vendors exhibiting at VMworld, how do you know which booths to visit and who to get on your busy schedule?

For years now, I've had the pleasure to speak with the team from Vembu Technologies on different occasions, most recently at a local VMUG.  But next month, I look forward to meeting with them at VMworld to find out what's new.  Not only did they recently refresh their corporate logo, but they also have a new release of their Vembu BDR Suite to talk about.

Vembu is a leading provider of a portfolio of software products and cloud services to small and medium businesses for more than a decade. Vembu's vision is to make software and cloud services very affordable for the hundreds of thousands of small and medium businesses worldwide.  Their flagship offering is the BDR Suite of products meant for on-premises, offsite, cloud backup and disaster recovery across diverse IT environments including physical, virtual, applications and endpoints. Since 2002, Vembu's industry-recognized data protection solutions have delivered tangible value to more than 60,000 businesses worldwide through a network of 4000+ partners (MSPs/VARs & Resellers).

Read this exclusive pre-show interview with Vembu to learn what they have planned for the upcoming VMworld 2017 event.

VMblog:  As a VMworld 2017 sponsor, how can people find you this year?  What is your booth #?  How many people do you plan on sending?

Vembu:  We will be in Booth number 119. And we plan on sending around 2 people for the event.

VMblog:  Can you give readers a few reasons why your product or service is considered unique?

Vembu:   Absolutely.

  • An all in one backup solution caters the requirements of businesses of any size. Vembu Supports backing up of Virtual machines, Physical machines of Windows, Linux and MAC and also supports backing up of cloud applications like google apps and office 365.
  • A simple and user friendly product, anyone with basic knowledge of computing can still deploy and start using our product.
  • Vembu BDR Suite is using its own filesystem "VembuHIVE" to store the backed up data and it has inbuilt compression, encryption and deduplication, while no other backup software vendors develop a own file system for their software.
  • Some of our unique recovery features include Quick VM Recovery and instant file recovery which lets users restore their back ups almost instantly if their original machine crashed or got corrupted.

VMblog:  Why should a VMworld attendee add you to their MUST SEE list?

Vembu:  Vembu has been an elite partner of VMware, leveraging the latest technologies of VMware to provide enterprise-like backup features to small & medium businesses. Since backup is quite essential in these times of data security, a VMworld attendee can add us to their MUST SEE list to ensure that their data is safe using few clicks of Vembu BDR Suite.

VMblog:  What do you like most about sponsoring VMworld?

Vembu:  We ensure that we visit and sponsor VMworld not only for business purposes but also to make sure that we are analyzing the latest technological trends, understanding the recent requirements of VMware audience and make our solutions accordingly. Basically, we strive to make solutions better in terms of customer requirements and hence it was important for us to visit & sponsor VMworld to bridge the gap between demand and offering.

VMblog:  Can you give VMblog readers a sneak peek as to what you will be showing off at your booth this year?

Vembu:  During the last VMworld event, we displayed v3.5 of Vembu BDR Suite, but in this event we are going to display our latest version 3.8, which comes with a lot of power packed features and a more simplified user interface.

Some of the newly added features are:

  1. Direct image backup from backup server
  2. File level recovery from UI of BDR Server
  3. File level recovery from UI of OffsiteDR Server
  4. MSI installer and
  5. OffsiteDR seeding

We have also changed our old logo to a new logo which looks refreshing as well.

VMblog:  How does your company and product fit within the VMware ecosystem?

Vembu:  Vembu is providing backup, replication and disaster recovery solution for the virtual machines running in VMware environments.

VMblog:  How important are backups in 2017 for any industry using VMware or some other virtualization platform?

Vembu:  Recent Ransomware attacks and other data security breaches around the world have illustrated to the entire world that the data is quite vulnerable and it is imperative that regular data backups for VMware & other environments are essential for the business to keep going. Even for sophisticated systems, simple and efficient backups are enough to save the roof.

VMblog:  What are you looking forward to most at VMworld this year?

Vembu:  As one would know, VMware is known for their innovative solutions and technical audience around the world visit the event for the same reason. We look forward to VMworld to meet diverse people and discuss the current trends in the field of server virtualization & relevant technologies.

VMblog:  How many times have you sponsored before?  And what keeps you coming back?

Vembu:  Our first VMworld event was back in 2014. We have been regular for the past 3 years because it helps us get quality feedback about our product from the virtualization community. We keep coming back because of the reception that we have got and the feedback.

VMblog:  How has exhibiting at VMworld helped your company's bottom line?

Vembu:  Exhibiting at VMworld helped our business to reach out more. It is the place where we learned more about people's expectations from us and we also got feedback for our product from the visitors of VMworld.

VMblog:  Thinking back, do you remember your first VMworld event?  Does anything stand out?

Vembu:  We were able to meet a lot of representatives at the event and share the knowledge about relevant technologies. The first event has a lot of memories but the most important one was how Vembu was recognized as a front-runner in Backup and Recovery industry.

VMblog:  What do you think we need to do collectively as an ecosystem to strengthen the industry?

Vembu:  We think that innovation backed with responsibility is the need of the hour. Given the fact that data is under consistent threat in the modern times, we as stakeholders need to find solutions which ensure that the business continuity is never compromised.
