DockerCon 2017 Q&A: Couchbase Makes App Development Easier. See How Databases and Containers Go Hand-in-Hand at Booth S37

Written by

Are you attending DockerCon 2017 in Austin, TX next month?  If so, I invite you to add Couchbase to your MUST SEE list of vendors.

Couchbase is part of the $35 billion database market and has quickly built a reputation among the Fortune 500 as the performance and scalability leader among NoSQL vendors.  They deliver NoSQL database technology for businesses focused on digital innovation.  Developers around the world build enterprise web, mobile, and IoT applications on the Couchbase data management platform to support massive data volumes in real time. The Couchbase platform includes Couchbase ServerCouchbase Lite - the first mobile NoSQL database, and Couchbase Sync Gateway.

Read VMblog's exclusive pre-show interview with Couchbase to learn what they have planned for the upcoming event.

VMblog:  As a DockerCon 2017 sponsor, how can people find you this year?

Couchbase:  We are at booth S37 and will be sending 3-4 people.  Arun Gupta, VP of Developer Relations, is also speaking at the event.

VMblog:  Is there anything interesting or unique about this year's booth setup?  Do you have a theme?

Couchbase:  JSON IN, JSON OUT is our booth messaging banner/theme.  We have inflatables on the booth so people can come in and sit down and chat with us.

VMblog:  What message about your product can you send attendees back with to sell their boss on your technology?

Couchbase:  Enterprise customers like United Airlines, Verizon and GE are using the Couchbase data platform to build solutions that deliver exceptional customer experiences. Couchbase makes application development easier with support for native JSON, and makes application deployment and operational management easier with support for containers and cloud. Couchbase helps customers deliver amazing customer experiences faster, more flexibly, and more cost effectively.

We can also send links to our documentation on ‘best practices', blogs, presentations etc.

VMblog:  Why should a DockerCon attendee add you to their MUST SEE list?

Couchbase:  Databases and containers go hand-in-hand. Scalability, manageability, and availability are some of the biggest operational challenges that enterprises face today. Working with a database that makes application development easier and that addresses these operational challenges is crucial to making applications successful in the real world.

VMblog:  What do you like most about sponsoring DockerCon?

Couchbase:  Ask Arun :)

VMblog:  Can you give VMblog readers a sneak peek as to what you will be showing off at your booth this year?

Couchbase:  Absolutely!

  • We will have a Demo setup for folks to give a quick try.
  • We will talk about the Core Design Principles which makes Couchbase a great fit for Container technology.
  • We will talk about our Enterprise customers like GE, Comcast, United Airlines and others who are already using containerized Couchbase in production deployment.

VMblog:  How does your company and product fit within the Docker or container ecosystem?

Couchbase:  Couchbase is a great fit for Container technology due to our core design principles such as: multi-dimensional scaling, asynchronous approach and memory-first architecture.

VMblog:  Is this your first DockerCon event as a sponsor?

Couchbase:  We sponsored it last year.  We're back again this year because we think our technology compliments Container technology well and the audience can benefit by learning how.

VMblog:  Do you remember your first DockerCon event?

Couchbase:   The energy and interest was very high. Our booth was swamped most of the time, with multiple conversations going on. I remember meeting lots of folks from all over the world, which was great to experience.

VMblog:  Does your company have any speaking sessions during the show?  If so, can you give us the who, what, when and where?

Couchbase:  Arun Gupta will have a joint talk, "107845 - Docker for Java Developers."  Tuesday, April 18th, 4:15 - 4:55 PM.

VMblog:  Are you guys involved with any type of party during the event?

Couchbase:  No, we normally have a lot of giveaways at the booth, daily prize draws, cake pops, fun stuff.
